How To Start Living

Have you ever questioned the meaning of life? Or woken up in the morning with no motivation at all? We have all been there because life can be a roller coaster ride.

However, society expects us to walk around with a smile even when we're hurting inside. Its not a good look to wear a sad face. That is why most people would rather keep their problems to themselves because no one really cares.

That is why people always get shocked when they hear that someone who always wore a smile committed suicide. Its okay not to be okay but there are a few things that can uplift us when we're feeling down.

1. The simple pleasures of life.

It could be that cup of coffee, food, a good book or a walk in nature. Such things don't cost much if anything but they bring a certain delight in our hearts. These are the things that make us look forward to the next minute, hour or day. So, whenever you feel down in the dumps, you can endulge in your favourite meal or hobby. The peaceful feeling may not last but it will leaving you feeling better than you were. Whenever I'm sad, I eat chocolate, write or listen to music. It keeps my mind off the sad thoughts and I end up feeling much better even though the problem is not solved.

2. Love

We were made from love and for love. Why else would we be here?  God saw that Adam was alone and thus made him a companion. It was also for love that Jesus died on the cross. To love is the greatest feeling in the world and to be loved is everything. For when everything will be gone, the only thing that will remain is love. So when you feel alone and hurt, you can lean on your loved ones because apart from food, clothing and shelter, humans are made to need love and appreciation. For me, when I'm feeling this way, I think about all the people I love and trust that they are there for me.

3. God

Above everything else, God is our source of joy.  First we should be thankful that He gave us life, the simple pleasures and love. It's also soothing when we take time to talk to Him because we know, unlike anybody else, God knows our deepest desires, our fears and who we truly are. When you're feeling worn down, you can take time and talk to Him one on one through prayer and we can be rest assured that He can hear us because He is all powerful. I know that we were born out of sin and God understands this so we should never ever feel less than perfect to come before Him. He loves us just the way we are.

To really start living, we have to enjoy life. Life is short, so we should at least enjoy it while we can.
